From a yoga teacher, here’s what a consistent practice really looks like.

If you've ever felt like you're bad at being consistent in your yoga practice, I want to gently offer a way to reframe.

Consistency does not mean practicing every day for an hour. It doesn't mean pushing through exhaustion or forcing yourself onto the mat when your body is asking for rest. And it certainly doesn't mean doing it perfectly.

In reality, consistent practice looks much quieter than we're often led to believe.

It looks like:

  • 5 minutes of movement when that's all you have

  • A short pause to breathe and check in

  • Stretching in bed before rising or falling asleep

  • Returning again and again to your mat, without judgment

  • Taking an extra long moment to smell and sip your tea

  • Completing daily tasks slowly and mindfully

  • Taking a deep breath of air when you first step outside

  • Reminding yourself to be here, now

This is how real change happens, especially for the nervous system -- slowly, repeatedly, gently.

Small intentional practices done regularly create safety in the body. They build trust. They allow awareness to deepen naturally. Over time, those few minutes begin to ripple outward into how we move, rest, respond, and care for ourselves.

Consistency isn't about doing more. It's about staying in a relationship with yourself.

This is exactly why I created my new Virtual Yoga Program, beginning February 1st.

This program is designed to support consistency without burnout. It offers:

  • Weekly meditations and mid-week flows to anchor your routine

  • Short movement inspiration you can return to on busy days

  • Seasonal guidance and encouragement to keep you feeling connected to yourself and the world around you

  • Optional deeper ritual spaces for reflection and intention setting

  • Recordings for everything, so your practice fits your life

Rather than asking you to overhaul your schedule, this membership provides a gentle structure. It's something to lean into, not keep up with.

If you have been craving a way to practice that feels realistic, nourishing, and supportive, this space may be for you. If you would like to learn more or join us for the February start, you can learn more on our website here.

See you on the mat!
