6 ways to nourish yourself beyond food.
When we think about nourishment, food is often the first thing that comes to mind. But we are nourished by so much more than what is on our plate.
We are nourished by deep rest after a long day, by meaningful conversations with people who make us feel seen, by movement that helps us reconnect with our bodies, by creativity that sparks curiosity and joy, by time spent in nature, and by spiritual practices that help us feel grounded and connected. Yet these forms of nourishment are often the first things to disappear when life gets busy.
If you have been feeling depleted, overwhelmed, or disconnected lately, it may be worth asking yourself: What kind of nourishment am I missing?
Rest
Rest is more than sleep. It can look like taking breaks throughout the day, spending time in silence, saying no to unnecessary commitments, or allowing yourself moments of stillness without feeling guilty.
Community
Humans are wired for connection. Consider reaching out to a friend, joining a class, attending a support group, or simply spending time with people who help you feel supported and understood.
Movement
Movement doesn't have to be intense to be beneficial. A walk around the block, gentle stretching, yoga, gardening, or dancing in your kitchen can all help nourish your body and mind.
Creativity
Creativity isn't reserved for artists. Writing, cooking, crafting, decorating, music, photography, and trying new experiences can all help cultivate a sense of play and expression.
Nature
Spending time outdoors has a remarkable way of helping us slow down and reconnect. Open a window, sit on your porch, take a walk, or spend a few moments noticing the world around you.
Spiritual Practices
Whether it's meditation, prayer, journaling, mindfulness, ritual, or simply taking time to reflect, spiritual practices can help us reconnect with ourselves and what matters most.
This weekend, we invite you to choose just one area of nourishment and give it a little extra attention. Small acts of care have a way of creating meaningful change over time.
P.S. If you would like a dedicated space to reflect on what is nourishing you (and what might need more attention), we invite you to join our upcoming virtual Strawberry Moon Ceremony on Monday, June 29th from 6-6:30 PM. Together, we will explore themes of abundance, gratitude, and tending to what helps us thrive.
