About Acupuncture

  • What is acupuncture and how does it work?

Acupuncture is an ancient healing technique originating from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body, known as acupuncture points or meridians.

The goal is to stimulate these points to balance the flow of energy, or “qi,” within the body. By promoting this balance, acupuncture aims to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, enhance circulation, and support overall well-being.

  • Is acupuncture safe?

Yes, acupuncture is generally considered safe when performed by a qualified and licensed practitioner.

Sterile, single-use needles are used to minimize the risk of infection. It is essential to choose a reputable acupuncturist who follows stringent hygiene and safety standards.

Acupuncture may have minimal side effects, such as mild bruising or soreness, but serious adverse effects are rare.

  • What conditions can acupuncture treat?

Acupuncture is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) for its effectiveness in treating a wide range of conditions. These include pain management (e.g. back pain, arthritis, headaches), stress and anxiety, digestive disorders, allergies, fertility issues, and more. It can also be used to support overall health and preventive care.

  • What should I expect during an acupuncture session?

During an acupuncture session, you will typically lie down comfortably while the acupuncturist inserts thin needles into specific acupuncture points on your body.

You may feel a mild sensation, such as tingling, warmth, or a slight ache, but it should not be painful. You will relax with the needles in place for about 20-30 minutes.

Many people find acupuncture sessions deeply relaxing.

  • Does acupuncture hurt?

    Acupuncture is generally not painful.

Most people describe the sensation as a mild pinch or prick during needle insertion, followed by a sense of relaxation.

Any discomfort is usually minimal and short-lived.

  • How many acupuncture sessions will I need?

The number of acupuncture sessions needed varies depending on your condition, its severity, and your response to treatment.

Acute issues may require fewer sessions, while chronic conditions may benefit from a series of treatments.

Your acupuncturist will discuss a personalized treatment plan for you.

  • What are Acuseeds, and how do they work?

Acuseeds are applied to specific pressure points on the body to stimulate energy flow and promote balance.

The pressure on these points can alleviate various physical and emotional issues, similar to acupuncture but without needles.

  • What conditions can Acuseeds help with?

Acuseeds can be used to address a wide range of issues, including pain relief (e.g. headaches, back pain), stress reduction, anxiety, insomnia, and enhancing overall well-being.

It is a versatile treatment that can be customized for different concerns.

  • What is the difference between Acuseeds and Acupuncture?

Acuseeds involve applying pressure to specific points on the skin using small seeds, while acupuncture involves inserting thin needles into these points.

Both practices aim to stimulate energy flow and promote balance.

  • Can anyone use Acuseeds?

Most people can benefit from Acuseeds, and they can be a great alternative to Acupuncture for those who are unable to use or are wary of needles.

However, you should always consult with our Acupuncturist or your primary care physician before use.

  • Do Acuseeds have long-term benefits, or are they primarily for immediate relief?

Acuseeds can provide both immediate relief and long-term benefits when used regularly.

Consistent use may lead to cumulative improvements in well-being.
