What happens to your nervous system during Community Wellness Day?

Many of the experiences we're offering naturally support the body's ability to move out of stress mode and back into balance. Throughout the day, you will find opportunities that help shift the nervous system from fight-or-flight and into rest-and-digest.

Here's a look at how the day supports your nervous system along the way:

Yoga Nidra

Often called "yogic sleep," Yoga Nidra guides the body into one of the deepest states of conscious relaxation. Research shows this type of guided rest can help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, slowing heart rate, lowering cortisol, and allowing the body to recover from stress.

Mindfulness Walk on the Ma & Pa Trail

Time in nature has been shown to reduce activity in the brain in the regions associated with rumination and stress. Gentle walking combined with mindful awareness helps regulate breathing, stabilize mood, and calm the nervous system.

Mini Reiki Sessions

Reiki is often associated with increased relaxation and a measurable drop in heart rate and anxiety levels. Many people experience a shift into a calmer psychological state, which can help the nervous system move toward regulation.

Somatic Practices

Workshops like Listening to the Body: A Somatic Reset focus on body awareness. Somatic techniques help people notice and release tension patterns, allowing the nervous system to process stress that may have been stored physically.

Understanding Trauma & the Nervous System

Learning how the nervous system works can actually help regulate it. When we understand why our bodies respond the way they do, it can reduce shame, increase self-compassion, and support healthier responses to stress.

Emotional Resilience Tools

Workshops focused on emotional resilience help build practical skills for regulating emotions, managing overwhelm, and supporting executive function -- all key pieces of nervous system health.

Even the smaller moments throughout the day contribute to regulation -- sipping tea, crafting, connecting with others, and slowing down enough to truly breathe.

Taken together, the entire experience becomes something more than an event -- it becomes a day designed to support your nervous system. It's a space to rest, a place to learn, and an opportunity to reconnect with yourself.

If your body has been asking for a reset, this might be exactly the kind of day it needs.

We would love to welcome you.
